This is a basic tutorial of Excel. START HERE Specific examples may refer to Excel (but most items discussed should work in other spreadsheets).

MS Excel is easy to use program designed to create and maintain databases in a very effective and rapid manner. Excel works mainly in table formats to store and manage multiple data in several excel spreadsheets. MS Excel is Windows compatible software supporting each version of operating system such as Win XP, ME, Vista, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2010 or later. Excel has the capability to save 65,000 records as rows and 256 fields columns in a single spreadsheet. Using MS Excel, user can do arithmetic algebra including sum, average, mean, difference and many more.

MS Excel is wonderful utility to be implemented as a database to arrange data in any order-increasing or decreasing. Excel helps in rapid searching of data through sorting features. MS Excel is always available software together with all MS Office packages. There is no need to specially install software for database applications.

Use Excel as a Database

Excel stores data in a database in table format. Each row is considered as a record and every column is represented as a field.

You can enter data in each field by inputting data one by one in each row. You can also adjust size of column by dragging column as per requirements.

As shown above, you can enter multiple records in a single spreadsheet.

After adding data, you can apply any function such as data average, data count, data sum etc through “Insert Function” window.
